Morphological characteristics: The spathe has a wingspan of 18-25mm and a pale colouration. The forewings have a general colouration of turquoise with scattered small dark spots and blackish transverse wavy or broken lines. The hind wings are off-white with a brownish periphery and nerves. The larva, fully developed, is 15-20mm long and usually pinkish in colour with the head and pronotum brown.

Biological cycle: has up to 5 generations per year. The larval and larval instars may last up to 5 to 5 years. The larvae emerge in spring. During the day they lay dormant on the walls of the warehouse or on the products. They are active, like most warehouse moths, at dusk and at night. Females usually lay 200-300 eggs each on the flour piles.
Infestation: Attacks cereal grains and flours, legumes, nuts, pollen in bee hives, bran, etc.
